Today marks the first day in two weeks that I’ve worn makeup! And I must say, it was amazing. Not only do I not have to wake up extra early to apply the makeup, I can rub my eyes and not have to worry about smudges, and the best part, when I nap my white sheets aren’t left a pale tan from my foundation. After I had ordered my new makeup from Ulta, I became obsessed with contouring my face and creating the perfect wing. I was so lost in the makeup I forgot to let my skin breathe. I know from personal experience, if you don’t take care of your skin before and after applying makeup you might find yourself breaking out more than usual. An easy fix to that is, first, always wash and moisturize your face before you apply makeup. This removes any excess dirt from the pores and helps prevent bacteria buildup from the makeup. Next, don’t cake on the makeup. I know it’s easier said than done, but when it comes to foundation, less is more. Put on just enough to give you a glow but not enough to make you look photoshopped. Overloading your face with foundation can stop the ability of the pores to breathe and can cause clogging. Last, when the day is done and you’re ready to take the makeup off, I recommend using a makeup wipe first to get the majority of the makeup off. After, I would use a non-scented soap, and once a week a non-scented scrub to gently wash your face. Scrubbing too hard can cause dryness, and using water that is too warm or cold can increase dryness as well. When you finished washing, turn on the cold water and splash your face. This will close the pores and prevent any excess dirt from getting inside. REMEMBER; do not rub your face, pat it dry with a towel and apply a small amount of moisturizer. If you keep up with this routine, you’ll notice healthier and clearer looking skin. Enjoy!
