Beauty

It’s about 7:00 pm and she’s standing by the shore dipping her toes in the water. The sun;a warm blanket. The water; a pair of socks. Everything surrounding her is putting her mind at ease. The voices in her head are silenced, and the definition of life became a lot clearer…”Be humble, be kind, don’t lie, always hold your head high. The tides will rise, the currents will pull, let your faith in God keep you a float. Don’t belittle yourself for others satisfaction, don’t let your demons become a distraction. And for every success you have, attribute it to the people whose always had your back.

Beauty; a combination of qualities, such as shape, color, or form, that pleases the aesthetic senses, especially the sight (dictionary.com).

You are not held to this definition of beauty. Let beauty become a testimony of faith and character, let it be the most beautiful souls are the ones who shine from within. Embrace the power change can have. Every one of you has a purpose, has some impact on someone in this world. Who is your someone? Are they beautiful? Are they beautiful by societies standards, or yours? Let’s create a world where beauty is giving up your seat for an expecting mother, or telling a girl she’s glowing today, because she’s had a rough week. A world where beauty is raising your children on the foundation of love. To love everyone regardless of their race, nationality, or sexuality. To respect all creations because they, like you, have a meaning to someone in this world.

I pledge to alter the definition of beauty. To take the emphasis off of the face, and focus it on the heart.

Pleased with her moments of relaxation, she took a breath and stood up tall. From that moment on she left the weight of the world to the rise and fall of the tides.
